About Me

Welcome! I’m Mrs. Haven, a 5th-grade science teacher with over a decade of experience inspiring curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking in the classroom. Since 2011, I’ve been teaching at Columbia Middle School, where I focus on creating engaging, evidence-based learning experiences that empower students to succeed.

As a lifelong member of the Columbia community and a graduate of Columbia High School, I’m deeply connected to the values and traditions that make our schools exceptional. After earning my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I returned home to share my passion for education and foster meaningful learning opportunities for the next generation.

Beyond the classroom, I’m committed to supporting fellow educators. Through this platform, I aim to share practical, research-backed strategies and tools that teachers can use to enhance their teaching practices and student outcomes. I’m here to help educators feel empowered and inspired.When I’m not teaching, you can find me hiking the Salt Lick Trail, camping with my family, or enjoying a pizza-and-popcorn movie night with my husband and three boys.
